Current advice (24/03/20) on travelling to swim – don’t!

Please follow latest government advice – Stay at home, with few exemptions. This means we should not be travelling to swim.

There are also explanations of why going out for a swim is not a good idea at the moment – other than for those lucky enough to have some water within easy walking or cycling distance, and who are experienced and acclimatised to the still cold water  https://www.outdoorswimmingsociety.com/go-swimming-later/, and latest guidance (27Mar2020) from the government https://www.gov.uk/government/news/coronavirus-guidance-on-access-to-green-space

For anyone keen to take up outdoor swimming, the advice is that now is probably not the best time, but instead to plan and dream, and to read/watch/listen to all the really useful safety advice as well as inspiring stuff. I’ve compiled loads of links – for swimmers, and of wider interest – Stay at home resources, on this website
