Galleywood nr Ingatestone (as on A12 trip)
Park on a little concrete area on Margaretting Road, Galleywood, and walk down alongside the A12 to a ford. The water is not very deep, but good enough for a splash around. We had fun here in 2016.
Sawbridgeworth, Pishiobury Park, river Stort
Pishiobury Park is south of Sawbridgeworth, with a signed entrance and car park (barrier 6’6″) off the Harlow Road (A1184) and a pedestrian entrance from Newton Drive, where there are a few parking spaces. Walk down to the river from Newton Drive, turn right, and go along to the footbridge across the river. You can get in on the other side just along, or before the bridge via a little stream off it with its own footbridge. Look out for boats.

Audley End near Saffron Walden
There’s a weir in the river Granta, just north of Audley End (English Heritage), on a public footpath, which might be worth a look.
