|River||Great Ouse Cut Off Channel|
|Swim location name||Fordham, near Downham Market|
|Nearest postcode||PE38 0LW|
Don’t confuse with other Fordhams, eg in Cambs. Take a by road off the A10, an even smaller road off that, then a small track off that road going towards the bridge, with a car park on your left. From the car park walk up to the bridge, turn right through the gate, down to a little structure on the river bank where there is easy access with firm edge, and there are other entry points where you can walk into the water. Can be weedy in summer, and warm, though exposed to the breeze. Can also have nasty green algae bloom (eg July 2019 ) -if so don’t swim here until it has gone!
You can also swim in the river Wissey at Hilgay, or further downstream by taking the bridleway/footpath – see map below

I accept no liability for the choices that people make. There is Swim Safety info on this website, and on Outdoor Swimming Society website, Survive section.
Please follow the Outdoor Swimmers Code, and Outdoor Swimming Society advice on responsible swimming at this time.
